If the app is running slowly, experiencing typing delays, latency, or high CPU usage, try the following steps to help identify and resolve the issue:
- Ensure you're using the latest version of the Evernote app. Updates often contain performance improvements and bug fixes.
- Verify that your operating system is up to date, as compatibility issues between older OS versions and the Evernote app can contribute to performance problems.
- Restarting the Evernote app or your device can resolve temporary performance issues.
- Slow internet speeds can affect Evernote's performance, especially when syncing.
-
Windows only: Evernote’s hardware acceleration is enabled by default to improve stability, but if performance issues persist, try toggling it on or off in Evernote’s settings.
- Note: Some users with NVIDIA graphics cards may experience performance issues due to NVIDIA's latest drivers optimization settings, which include an invalid profile for Evernote. This is currently beyond Evernote’s control, and adjusting the hardware acceleration setting may not resolve the problem in these cases. We are investigating this issue further and will work with NVIDIA to find a solution.
If you’re still experiencing issues, you can help us investigate effectively by:
- Noting when the slowdown occurs: is it during app launch, while editing large notes, or when accessing shared notes? Providing specific scenarios can help us pinpoint the issue.
- Sending us your activity logs exported right after the app is slow or the CPU usage is high. Mention the exact time (including timezone) when the issue occurred, as this helps us trace and analyze performance data accurately.
