Tracing contain detailed information about Evernote’s processes, helping our support team diagnose specific issues with the Evernote app or Evernote Web. These logs may contain titles of notes, tags, notebooks, and some content.

Privacy note: You can review and edit logs to remove any details before sending them. All log data is treated as confidential, per our Privacy Policy.

Send a Tracing Log

Follow the steps below to send a tracing log, based on your device.


Mac

Option 1: From the Evernote App

  1. Open Evernote, go to Help > Start tracing
  2. Use Evernote and reproduce the issue
  3. go to Help > Stop tracing
  4. Choose the location and save to get the logs.

Windows

Option 1: From the Evernote App

  1. Open Evernote, go to Help > Start tracing
  2. Use Evernote and reproduce the issue
  3. go to Help > Stop tracing
  4. Choose the location and save to get the logs.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Tap your profile icon in the top-left corner to open the menu.
  2. Go to Help > Start tracing
  3. Use Evernote and reproduce the issue
  4. Go to Help > Stop tracing
  5. Email the log to yourself, this will allow you to download and attach it to your reply when contacting Support.

Android

  1. Tap your profile icon in the top-left corner to open the menu.
  2. Go to Help > Start tracing
  3. Use Evernote and reproduce the issue
  4. Go to Help > Stop tracing
  5. Email the log to yourself, this will allow you to download and attach it to your reply when contacting Support.

Evernote Web

Option 1: From the Web Interface

  1. Click your profile icon (or your name/email) in the top-left corner to open the menu.
  2. Hover over Need help? to view options.
  3. Select Start tracing
  4. Use Evernote and reproduce the issue
  5. Go back to the Need help? section and select Stop tracing
  6. The file will be downloaded in your download folder
