If you're experiencing issues logging in due to a support code error (an 8-character code such as XXXX-XXXX) or are experiencing any general login issues, kindly follow the troubleshooting steps outlined below.
General Pre-Check
- Ensure that your operating system or browser is compatible with Evernote by checking our OS requirements.
Step 1: General Steps
Follow these general troubleshooting steps on all platforms (mobile, desktop, or Web). Our authentication is web-based, so Step 1 applies to all platforms we support.
- If you're using a VPN, please turn it off while using Evernote, or use the split tunneling feature if available.
- Browser settings can also affect your ability to log in. Please disable your ad blockers and third-party extensions and allow pop-ups and cookies for Evernote.
- Clear your cache by following the instructions from this article, or try using a different browser.
- Make sure you’re using a strong Internet connection, possibly trying to switch from cellular to Wi-Fi and vice-versa or switching to a different network.
- Update your default browser or reinstall it.
Step 2: Desktop and Mobile Apps
Along with Step 1, follow these additional troubleshooting steps for mobile and desktop apps.
- Restart the Evernote app by closing it and opening it again. Here's how to do so:
- Make sure the app is updated to its very latest version. Here’s how to check for updates and download the latest available version.
- Make sure your device’s software is updated to its very latest version
- As a last resort, please completely reinstall the app
Step 2: Evernote Web
Along with Step 1, follow these additional troubleshooting steps for Evernote Web.
- Make sure you are logging in using this link.
- Please note that Evernote Web isn't optimized for mobile browsers. If you're trying to log in through a mobile browser, download the native app instead.

Alternatively, if you cannot access your Evernote account on the Web, we suggest using the Evernote app on your mobile device or computer and vice versa.
