At times, clearing your local data is necessary to resolve issues and ensure updates or changes are applied correctly. Follow the steps below based on your platform (desktop, mobile, or web):
-
Desktop app (macOS and Windows)
Log out and if asked to 'Keep local backup', select Remove my Evernote data from this device.
-
Mobile app (iOS and Android)
Reinstall the app, this clears local data and ensures a fresh sync of your content.
Note: Clearing local data only removes the copy of your notes stored on your device. It does not delete your notes, formatting, or structure already saved on Evernote servers. When you sign back in, everything will be re-downloaded from the cloud. For extra peace of mind, you can check Evernote Web first: if your notes look correct there, that’s how they’ll appear after reinstalling the app.
-
Evernote Web (using Evernote in a web browser)
- Log out of your Evernote account.
- Close all Evernote tabs.
- Clear your browser’s cache and cookies.
