Evernote has released a new metadata sync process (RENT) that provides faster synchronization and improves the overall user experience across all devices.
As part of this update, Tags are now personal for individual accounts and can no longer be shared. This change was essential to enable the enhanced sync functionality provided by RENT. As a result, any Tags you attach to a note, whether shared or not, will only be visible to you.
Additionally, only the owner of a shared notebook can add Tags to the notes within it, and these Tags will remain visible only to the owner.
Shared tags remain available with the Evernote Teams plan. If you’d like to create and share tags with other team members, consider upgrading to a Teams subscription.
If you're encountering issues such as not being able to share tags, noticing that your tags are no longer visible to others, or that your collaborators can't add or see tags in shared notebooks, these may be related to the recent changes in tag visibility for individual accounts. To retrieve tags you added to someone else’s shared note, contact the owner of the note, as they retain all existing tags.
