What to do when you're stuck on a Signing In... screen

If your desktop or mobile app gets stuck on a Signing In... screen after successful authentication, please follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

  • Clean your browser’s cache, making sure to clear it for ALL TIME
  • Disable your VPN / Adblock / Firewall for Evernote
  • Make one of the supported browsers your default browser
  • Change the default browser
  • Update your macOS to the latest version.

Please note that the most common cause of this issue is AdBlock settings. We recommend checking for your browser's AdBlock and any third-party extension that may have been installed.

Even if your default browser isn't supported by Evernote but is up to date, such as Brave, you should still be able to sign into the native apps.

Disabling Brave Shield for Evernote login

If you're experiencing issues logging into Evernote with Brave as your default browser, the Brave shield might be causing the problem. Please follow the steps below to ensure the shield is disabled for accounts.evernote.com:

1. Cancel the Current Process

  • If you’re stuck on the "Signing In" screen or the "Open in Evernote" page, click the "Cancel" button to stop the ongoing process.

2. Start a New Login Session

  • Return to the Evernote login page and click the "Log In" button to initiate a new authentication flow.
  • Proceed with the usual login steps until you reach the final screen, typically the "Open in Evernote" page.

3. Disable the Brave Shield

  • Look at the top-right corner of your browser window for the Brave shield icon (a lion).
  • Click on the lion icon to open the shield settings for the current page.
  • Toggle the shield off if it's enabled. This action disables the shield specifically for accounts.evernote.com.
  • The page will automatically reload once the shield is turned off.

4. Complete the Login

  • After the page reloads, check if the issue is resolved. If you still encounter problems:
  • Click "Cancel" on the "Open Evernote" dialog again.
  • Repeat the login steps as mentioned above.

Disabling the shield should resolve the login issues. If problems persist, try restarting your browser.
