How to troubleshoot crash/hang issues

If the Evernote app is crashing, try working through these steps until the issue is resolved:

  • Update to the latest version of Evernote - Your crash issues may have already been fixed with a product update. Sync Evernote, then download and install the latest version of Evernote.
  • Sign out, reboot your device and sign back in.
  • As a last resort, uninstall and reinstall Evernote (please make sure to export your activity logs before uninstalling the app). Before uninstalling Evernote, ensure that all your notes are synced and visible in Evernote Web. You may also wish to backup or save a copy of your notes.

If none of these suggestions help, please contact us. It's helpful to include the following in your ticket submission:

  • A copy of your activity log
  • What device are you using?
  • Does the app crash/hang on launch or later during session, after a specific action?
  • Can you please describe the detailed steps to reproduce the crash/hang?
  • Can you send us a screen recording of your device?
  • Are there any error messages? If so, please send us a screenshot.
  • A list of all the steps you took before you contacted Evernote Support

If the crashing makes your app unusable, use another device or Evernote Web until the issue can be resolved.
