Frequently Asked Questions

How can I view both my personal notes and my business notes at the same time?

You can only have notes open from one account at a time, but it’s quick to navigate between accounts. If you regularly want to look at personal notes but do work in business notes, you might decide to stay logged in to your business account in your Evernote app, and log in to your personal account in your web browser.

Note: If you have a note open in a separate window, it will remain open when you switch between accounts.

How do I move notes from personal notebooks to business notebooks, and vice versa?

When you choose to move a note to another notebook, you will see a button to show the notebooks of the other account. If needed, you can also convert a personal notebook to a business notebook.

Is there a keyboard shortcut for switching accounts?

Mac

  • Switch to Personal: Command-Control-1
  • Switch to Business: Command-Control-2 (Note: If you are in a non-business account, this shortcut may switch you to a different personal account, if you have one listed.)
  • If you have a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar, you can quickly switch accounts using a Touch Bar action.

Windows

  • Switch to Personal: Shift-Control-1
  • Switch to Business: Shift-Control-2 (Note: If you are in a non-business account, Shift-Ctrl-2 may switch you to a different personal account, if you have one listed.)

Is it possible to perform a search in my entire account (both personal and business)?

No. You need to search for personal and business notes separately.

Are there separate sets of note tags, reminders, and shortcuts for personal and business?

Yes. Notes and notebooks are viewed separately, so each account has its own set of tags, reminders, and shortcuts.

Can I create a note link inside a personal note that points to a business note, and vice versa?

Yes. In order to view the linked note, you need to be signed in to an account in which you have permission to view the note.

Can notebook stacks contain both personal and business notebooks?

No. Notebook are viewed separately, so stacks can only be used to organize notebooks within the same view.

Why can’t I find a note I saved (or forwarded) to my default notebook?

Your personal and business accounts each have their own default notebook. Try searching for the note in both your personal and business default notebooks.
