Schedule a recurring task

Stay on top of your repeating to-dos and action items by scheduling a task to repeat on a regular basis. Choose a time preset for when you want the task to recur or set a custom recurrence schedule. When you complete a recurring task, it will automatically reset to the next due date.

Recurring tasks have a circular arrow icon next to the due date.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I learn more about tasks?

To learn more, visit Tasks Overview.

Can I skip over a single instance of a recurring task?

No. You cannot skip an individual instance of a recurring task. The task must be marked complete in order to reset to the next scheduled due date.

Why don’t I see all of my completed recurring tasks?

Once a recurring task is marked complete, the due date will automatically reset to the next scheduled occurrence.

Why don’t I receive a notification for a due date that is upcoming or has passed?

Due dates do not trigger notifications. To receive a notification, add a task reminder for the time you’d like to receive a notification. You can add up to five reminders to a task.

Will I receive a notification for each occurrence of a recurring task?

To receive a notification for each occurrence of a recurring task, add a reminder for the time you’d like to receive a notification. You will continue to receive a notification at the chosen time for each occurrence going forward.

You can also enable automatic task reminders from the preferences section of your Evernote settings menu. This will allow reminders to be automatically set when you add a due date and time to a task.

Why are my recurring tasks grayed out on other devices?

You may be using an older version of Evernote that doesn’t support recurring tasks. Please visit evernote.com/download to update to the latest version.

What happens to my recurring tasks if I cancel my subscription?

Your tasks will retain any recurring due dates that were set prior to canceling your subscription. However, you will not be able to add or edit a recurring due date to new or existing tasks.
