What are image captions?
Image captions let you add a short text description — a caption — to images. Captions make your images searchable: the caption text is indexed, so you can find an image later by searching for words in its caption. When you add an image, Evernote automatically suggests a caption for you, and you can edit, replace, or clear it at any time.
Add or edit an image caption
- Add an image to your note (drag it in, or use the blue plus sign / Insert > Image).
- Evernote will suggest a caption for the image automatically.
- To edit the caption, select the image and click into the caption field below it, then type your own text.
- Your changes are saved automatically. You can update or clear the caption whenever you like.
Make your images searchable with captions
Because caption text is included in search, adding an accurate caption makes it easier to find the right image later. Search for any word in the caption from the main search bar to surface the note and image. This works alongside Evernote's existing ability to search for text that appears inside images.
