Introduction
Evernote can suggest a title for your note using AI. When your note's title field is empty, Evernote analyzes the content of your note and generates a relevant title for you to accept, edit, or dismiss.
How it works
When you click on an empty note title field, or hover over the title and click the star icon that appears. Evernote will generate an AI-powered title based on your note's content. A brief loading animation appears while the title is being generated.
Once the suggested title appears, you can:
- Accept it — simply click elsewhere or continue editing your note to keep the suggested title.
- Edit it — modify the suggested title to your liking.
- Try another suggestion — click the star icon next to the title field to cycle through alternative suggestions.
- Dismiss it — clear the title field and type your own.
Note: Your note needs to have enough content (at least 250 characters, roughly 50 words) to generate a title suggestion.
How to disable AI Title Suggestions
If you want to turn off this feature:
- Go to Settings.
- Select AI Features.
- Toggle off the AI Title Suggestion option.
FAQ
Why don't I see a title suggestion?
AI title suggestions only appear when the note title field is empty and your note has enough content for the AI to work with. If your note is very short or blank, no suggestion will be generated. Also make sure AI Title Suggestions are enabled within Settings > AI Features.
Can I edit the suggested title after accepting it?
Yes. A suggested title behaves just like any other note title. You can edit it at any time.
