Evernote notifications for Google Calendar events (Private Beta)

This feature is currently available to eligible Early Access members for private beta testing.

Evernote notifications for Google Calendar events are now available for private beta testing on desktop and mobile.

  • Never forget to take meeting notes again – Evernote can now remind you to take notes before or after an event
  • Upcoming event notifications give you the option to create or open a meeting note on the spot without switching gears

If you’ve been invited to participate in the private beta via email, please follow these steps:

  1. Open Evernote on your desktop or mobile device.
  2. Sync your calendar data by going to the calendar widget and clicking on the previous or next day arrows.
  3. Make sure you have allowed Evernote to send notifications to your device. Notifications should be enabled for each device and/or browser where you use Evernote. Visit Enable notifications for Evernote to learn more.

Manage calendar settings

To manage or customize your calendar event notifications, click or tap on the More options button (three dots) in the top right of the calendar widget and select Calendar settings....

The "Remind me to take notes" setting allows you to choose to receive notifications on your desktop or mobile devices before, at the start of, or after a calendar event to create a new note. You can choose a reminder time from the dropdown menu.

The "Remind me to open notes" setting allows you to choose to receive notifications on your desktop or mobile devices before, at the start of, or after a calendar event when you already have a linked note. You can choose a reminder time from the dropdown menu.

What do I need to know about this private beta?

The Evernote Early Access Program Terms of Service require you to keep information about private betas confidential. This includes, but isn't limited to, sharing information about the existence or capabilities of beta features. Comments that appear in public or on social media about features that are in development can cause confusion for people who aren’t in the private beta.

How do I know if I'm eligible to participate in this private beta?

If you've been selected for beta testing, you will have received an email at the email address you used to sign up for the Early Access Program.

Are calendar event notifications available for Evernote Web?

Yes. Sign in here to test calendar event notifications from your web browser.

Which calendars will I receive notifications for?

If you have one Google account connected, you'll receive Evernote notifications for events from your default calendar (the main calendar associated with that email address). If you have multiple Google accounts connected, you'll receive Evernote notifications for events from your default calendar for each account, as long as each calendar is selected from the list in the calendar widget. To view or manage your calendars, click or tap the More options button (three dots) and select Choose calendars....

I've been selected for the calendar event notifications beta, but I'm still not receiving notifications. What's going on?

If you're not yet receiving notifications for events in your connected Google Calendar, make sure you have done the following:

  1. Sync your calendar data by going to the calendar widget and clicking on the previous or next day arrows.
  2. Click or tap the More options button (three dots) and select Choose calendars.... Verify that the box next to your primary calendar (the main calendar associated with that email address) is checked.
  3. Make sure you have enabled notifications for Evernote on your device. Notifications should be enabled for each device and/or browser where you use Evernote. Visit Enable notifications for Evernote to learn more.
  4. Make sure Evernote is running in the background of your device. It must be running in the background for notifications to appear on your device.

When will calendar event notifications be available to everyone?

We do not yet have a date to share. During the private beta period, we are gathering feedback and bug reports to ensure calendar notifications are ready for public release.
