Color Bar
The Color Bar is at the top of the Tool Tray and contains your color palettes. You can navigate your palettes by swiping left and right with one finger on the palettes.
There are 5 preset palettes and 2 empty palettes. Each palette contains 7 color swatches.
Paper Pro customers have unlimited empty palettes.
Choose Colors Using Sliders
You can change the color saved in any swatch by tapping on it to select the swatch, and then tapping on it again to reveal the color selection menu.
In the color selection menu, you can adjust the swatch via an HSV (hue, saturation, value) slider interface.
Choose Colors Using the Color Picker
You can also use the eyedropper tool to sample colors from your canvas.
In the color selection menu, tap the eyedropper button to activate the Color Picker.
When the Color Picker is active, drag a finger anywhere on the canvas to move the picker over the color you want to sample.
Tap anywhere—inside or outside the picker—to save the sampled color to the active swatch.
Using the Mixer
Mixing colors in Paper is easy. Tap any color well in the palette to select it (you’ll see a bold white circle around it). Now place your finger inside the white circle in the Mixer.
Rotate clockwise to mix colors. Rotate counter-clockwise to unmix them.
The color inside the white circle in the Mixer is your current "ink".
Save a Custom Color
Whether you created a custom color using sliders or the Mixer, you can save it to a palette.
Hold your finger on the circle in the Mixer until the color "sticks" to your finger, drag it to the color palette, and then lift your finger.
You can overwrite any color swatch. Only the last two default palettes remain unaffected by a “Reset Color Palettes” action.
Unlimited Empty Palettes (Paper Pro users only)
Swipe left past the last color palette in the Color Bar to create more.
Tap the + button to create a new empty color palette.
Restore the Default Palettes
There is no “Restore Color Palettes” option in Settings.
There is a “Reset Color Palettes” option, which will erase all custom colors and reset the palettes to default. Only use this if you want to start over with clean palettes.
Change the Background Color
To fill the canvas with a color, hold your finger on any color swatch or the circle in the Mixer until the color "sticks" to your finger. Then drag it onto the Canvas area and lift your finger.
This background color is separate from the ink, fill, and photo layers.
You can change the background of an existing drawing without affecting the ink.
