How to save your legacy templates

WARNING: The legacy templates section will be dismissed on June 30th, 2025. After this date, you will no longer have access to your legacy templates. To save your legacy custom templates, make sure to create copies of them. Please note that the original notes used to create these old templates will remain unaffected.

How to retrieve your legacy templates

  • Desktop: Mac and Windows

    Create a new note. When the new note is empty, click on Legacy templates under Start from a template. This will display a modal warning about the deprecation of legacy templates. Click Got it to proceed. 

    After this, the legacy template gallery will appear. Click on My Templates in the top right to view the list of your legacy custom templates. To select one, simply click on it.

  • Mobile: iOS and Android

    Create a new note. When the new note is empty, click on Legacy templates at the bottom of the note. This will display a modal warning about the deprecation of legacy templates. Click Got it to proceed. 

    After this, the legacy template gallery will appear. Click on My Templates in the top right to view the list of your legacy custom templates. To select one, simply click on it. 

  • Web

    Create a new note. When the new note is empty, click on Legacy templates under Start from a template. This will display a modal warning about the deprecation of legacy templates. Click Got it to proceed. 

    After this, the legacy template gallery will appear. Click on My Templates in the top right to view the list of your legacy custom templates. To select one, simply click on it.

How to save your legacy templates in the new template format

Once you have the list of your legacy custom templates in My Templates, you can select one by simply clicking on it. After the selected template is applied to your empty note, click the More actions button (the three dots) in the upper right corner of your note, and then select Save as template. This will save your old template in the new template format.
