Filter your notes list
In Evernote, you can use filters to help you find what you need faster. The following filters are available:
- Tags - Select from a list of tags in your account.
- Located in - Select from a list of notebooks, stacks, or spaces (only Evernote Teams) that you have access to.
- Contains - Select from a list of specific content types, such as images or PDFs. More detail can be found in the "Contains" filter section below.
- Created - Select a specific date or date range when the note was created.
- Updated - Select a specific date or date range when the note was most recently updated.
Note: Note filtering is only available in the new Evernote for Mac, Windows, Web, iOS, and Android.
Filter your notes
There are several ways you can apply filters to your notes and searches.
Filter your entire notes list or notes in an individual notebook
- Desktop: Click the filter icon at the top right of the notes list and select from the options in the Add Filters box. To remove filters from your note list, click Clear All in the upper right corner of the "Add filters" box.
- Mobile: Tap the three dots and select Filter notes. Select your filters and tap Done to apply. To remove filters, tap Clear All at the bottom of the "Filter notes" screen.

- Filters may appear in the search dropdown based on the type of content you have. Alternatively, you can type the name of the filter into the search bar, then click or tap on the filter name to apply it. Note that the filter will not appear if you do not have notes with that type of content.

- Apply filters to search results by clicking the filter icon at the top right of the note list.
- To help you find what you're looking for even quicker, Evernote will show suggested filters when applicable at the top of the note list after you perform a search or add a filter.

"Contains" filter
The "contains" filter allows you to filter your notes for specific types of content. There are dozens of filters available. The table below describes what kind of content to expect when using some of these filters.
One thing to keep in mind while using the "contains" filter is that some filters are based on very specific, concrete items, such as a certain file type, while other filters, such as names and addresses, use AI-detected attributes that are specific to the English language. Because of this, the "contains" filter may not always or fully yield the expected result.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I save a specific set of filters as a saved search?
Yes. You can do so by first executing a search using the search bar. Then, applying one or more filters to the search results list, clicking the More actions button (three dots), and selecting Save search.... You can also do so after using the "add filters" option in your Notes list.
