Create your own templates

You can create your own templates from existing notes. If you prefer to use pre-made templates, visit our website to choose from dozens of free templates. To learn how to use templates, visit Use templates.

Note: Creating your own templates is only available with a paid subscription.

Create a template

You can turn any note you already have into a template, to be used over and over again. Once you’ve got the note in a format you want to save, follow the steps below to save it as a template.

  • Mac

    Create the note that you want to use as a template. Click the More actions button (three dots) in the upper right corner, select Save as template..., then give it a title and click Save. To view your saved templates, create a new note and click Template in the note body.

  • Windows

    Create the note that you want to use as a template. Click the More actions button (three dots) in the upper right corner, select Save as template..., then give it a title and click Save. To view your saved templates, create a new note and click Template in the note body.

  • iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

    Create the note that you want to use as a template. Tap the More actions button (three dots) in the upper right corner, select Save as template, then give it a title and tap Save. To view your saved templates, create a new note, tap Template in the note body, then tap My Templates.

  • Android

    Create the note that you want to use as a template. Tap the More actions button (three dots) in the upper right corner, tap Save note, select Save as Template, then give it a title and click Save. To view your saved templates, create a new note and tap Template in the note body.

  • Web

    Create the note that you want to use as a template. Click the More actions button (three dots) in the upper right corner, select Save as template..., then give it a title and click Save. To view your saved templates, create a new note and click Template in the note body.

To update or edit a template you've created, visit Edit your templates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sort or reorder my saved templates?

No. Templates are displayed in the order that they’re updated, with the most recently updated first.

Can I share my templates with others using Evernote’s Template Gallery?

At this time, we’re not accepting submissions for our Template Gallery.
