Use your mouse to draw and create handwritten notes. You can also use your finger or a stylus on touchscreen devices. Add a sketch
To add a sketch to a note, follow the instructions for your operating system below.

Mac
- From any opened note in edit mode, tap on the blue plus sign icon (+) in the note editor, then tap Sketch.
- Sketching tools appear on the left side of the screen. Select the pen or highlighter to start sketching notes with your mouse.
- Tap Done to save. Sketches are saved as .PNG images that can be downloaded, and edited on other desktop and mobile devices.

Older version of Evernote for Windows
- Click File > New Note > New Ink Note.
- Sketching tools appear at the top of the screen. Select the pen or highlighter to start sketching notes with your mouse.
- Sketches will be saved as a new ink note.

Sketch notes have their own toolbar with options to customize and format your handwritten notes.
- Snap-to-Shape: "Snaps" freehand drawings into precise lines and shapes.
- Pencil: Write and draw freehand with a circular tip.
- Pen: Write and draw freehand with an angled tip.
- Cutter: Delete lines or objects.
- Selector: Select objects to be scaled, stretched, moved, or deleted.
- Stroke Width: Choose the size of your pen, pencil, and cutter tools.
- Stroke Color: Choose the color of the ink.
- Paper Color: Choose the color of the background and rule lines. For a blank white background, select white for both Paper Color and Paper Grid.
