Add a math formula with LaTeX syntax

You can add math formulas with LaTeX syntax on Web, Desktop and mobile.

Add a formula

  • Web / Mac / Windows

  1. Toolbar
Click on the toolbar > Insert > Formula.

  2. Slash commands
Type “/” in a new line of your note > Formula.

  3. Markdown
Type $$[Formula]$$. As soon as the last dollar sign has been written, the formula block is created and automatically rendered.
  • Android / iOS

  1. Toolbar
Tap on the blue plus sign icon at the top left of the keyboard in a note > Formula

  2. Markdown
Type $$[Formula]$$. As soon as the last dollar sign has been written, the formula block is created and automatically rendered.

Edit a formula

Editing a formula in a block is straightforward:

  1. Automatic Cursor Positioning

When you insert a block, the cursor is automatically placed inside it, ready for you to start typing. Pressing delete at this stage will remove the entire block.

  2. Reverting to Editing Mode

If you click on a block containing a formula, it will switch back to editing mode.

Render a formula

To render a formula after editing, you have two options:

    1. Click the "Done" Button

Once you've finished editing, simply click the Done button to render the formula.

    2. Click Outside the Formula Block

Alternatively, clicking anywhere outside the formula block will automatically render it.

Copy a formula

While in editing mode, you can easily copy a formula by clicking the Copy button.

Note:

When the screen is too small to display the entire formula, or if the formula itself is too long, the end of the formula will be truncated. In this case:

  • The formula is aligned to the left within the block.
  • You can scroll horizontally within the block to view the full formula.
