Understanding Evernote Free Plan Limits: 50 Notes and 1 Notebook Explained

The Evernote Free plan has recently updated its limits to allow a maximum of 50 notes and one notebook per account. Here are the key details about these limits:

  1. Existing Users Over the Limit: If you already had more than 50 notes or multiple notebooks before the change, don't worry! You can still view, edit, share, and export your existing notes. You won't be able to create new notes or notebooks until you reduce your count within the limits, though.

  2. Managing Your Notes: You can delete existing notes or empty the trash to free up space for new ones. Notes in the trash still count toward the 50-note limit.

  3. Shared Notes: Even if you're at the limit, you can still receive shared notes. However, these will remain in the "Shared with Me" section and cannot be moved unless you go within the limits or your account is upgraded.

  4. Consolidating Notebooks: If your notes are spread across multiple notebooks, you can consolidate them into a single notebook by deleting excess notebooks and restoring the notes to the remaining one.

  5. Upgrading for More Features: To create more notes or use multiple notebooks, you can upgrade to the Personal, Professional or Teams plans, which offer significantly higher limits and additional features. You can compare our current plans here.

When creating an Evernote account, all customers (including Free users) agree to Evernote’s Terms of Service. The Terms give Evernote the Right to modify the Evernote Serviceas a result, we do not need to give users advance notice about account changes like the new device limit.
