Discontinued support for Evernote Touch on Windows
On August 2, 2016, Evernote Touch will be replaced with the full-featured Evernote for Windows desktop app in the Windows Store. Customers who currently use Evernote Touch can continue to do so, but it will no longer be available for download or update.
Frequently asked questions
What’s happening with Evernote Touch?
The Windows 10 Anniversary Update will bring support for Win32 desktop apps to the Windows Store. We want our Windows users to experience the best, most feature-rich version of Evernote, so we will be replacing Evernote Touch with the full-featured Evernote desktop app in the Windows Store.
Why is Evernote discontinuing support for Evernote Touch?
We are focusing on our commitment to invest in new features and functionality in our core apps. Evernote Touch was designed as a companion app to Evernote for Windows, and is not meant to be a full-featured version of Evernote. Evernote for Windows offers an extensive set of capabilities in addition to what Evernote Touch offers, including mouse and keyboard support.
What changes should I expect to see?
If you have the Windows 10 Anniversary Update with automatic updates turned on in the Windows Store, you don’t need to take any action. Evernote Touch will automatically update to the latest version of Evernote for Windows. Otherwise, it will be updated the next time you update Evernote Touch.
Will I still be able to use Evernote Touch?
Yes. Customers who currently use Evernote Touch on an operating system other than the Windows 10 Anniversary Update can continue to do so, even after August 2. While we are not planning to turn this app off, existing features or functionality may stop working the next time your operating system is updated. Once your app is updated, there is no way to revert to Evernote Touch and it will not be available for download.
What will happen to my notes when switching from Evernote Touch to the Evernote desktop app?
Your notes and notebooks will not be affected.
What’s the difference between Evernote Touch and Evernote for Windows?
Evernote Touch was designed to take advantage of touch input and gestures on Windows Touch devices, so there are some differences in the interface and the level of touch support. However, navigating your notes and notebooks in Evernote for Windows will still feel familiar. We encourage you to share any feature ideas or suggestions you have in our discussion forum.
