Discontinued support for Skitch for Android, Windows desktop, and Windows Touch
On December 17, 2015 Evernote will not make further updates to Skitch for Android, Windows Desktop, and Windows Touch. Customers who currently use any of these Skitch products can continue to do so. As of January 22, 2016, these apps will no longer be available for download.
Note: Skitch will continue to be available on Mac, iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch
Frequently asked questions
What’s happening with Skitch for Mac?
Evernote is not making any changes to Skitch for Mac. It will continue to be available and supported.
Why is Evernote discontinuing support for Skitch apps?
We realize fans of Skitch may be disappointed and want to let you know that we don’t make these decisions lightly. In keeping with our promise to focus on the core Evernote experience, we are moving away from supporting multiple standalone apps. Before ending support for Skitch, we incorporated the most used features, including markup and image editing, into Evernote.
What will happen after January 22?
Customers who currently use Skitch for Android, Windows Desktop, and Windows Touch can continue to do so. After January 22, these Skitch products will no longer be available for download.
Any Skitch images you've saved to Evernote before January 22 will always be available wherever you have Evernote. Simply log in to Evernote Web or download Evernote to all your devices to view them.
If you haven’t synced Skitch to Evernote before, we recommend that you do so. Syncing to Evernote ensures you’ll have a backup of your local Skitch images should the app stop working as a result of external changes or updates to your operating system.
Will I still be able to use Skitch apps that are no longer supported after January 22?
Yes. Customers who currently use these Skitch apps can continue to do so, even after January 22. While we are not planning to turn these apps off, existing features or functionality may stop working the next time your operating system is updated.
Are there other ways to capture and annotate screenshots that can be saved to Evernote?
Yes. There are four options:
