What is If This Then That?
If This Then That (IFTTT) connects two services of your choice to create an automated flow called a task. Services include things such as your email account, calendar, photo services, phone calls, and Evernote. Tasks consist of Triggers from one service resulting in an Action for another service. You can create your own Task, or use an existing Recipe created by other IFTTT users. There’s a near-infinite number of ways to use IFTTT.
What can you do with IFTTT?
Here are some popular recipes for using Evernote with IFTTT:
Save important emails by starred messages in Gmail: Don’t miss important emails; send them straight to your Evernote account for followup or reference.
Remember everywhere you visit by archiving your Foursquare location check-ins. Every time you check into a place on Foursquare, it will be appended to an Evernote note.
Save a diary of all your Facebook status updates: Every time you change your Facebook status, it will be appended to your "Diary" Evernote note.
How do you get started?
- If you don't yet have an Evernote account, create one now
- Create an IFTTT account
- Activate your Evernote channel on IFTTT
- Determine what you'll automate first and create the recipe. For inspiration, see popular recipes from others.
Additional Tips
- Share notes easily with others one at a time or share an entire collection as a notebook.
