What is a local notebook?
Local notebooks are notebooks that are not synced to Evernote and only exist on the computer where they are created. Normally, new notebooks created in Evernote will be synced to your Evernote account so they appear on all of your connected devices (and in Evernote Web). You should only create local notebooks to store notes that you do not want synced to your Evernote account.
To create a local notebook:
- Evernote for Mac: Press and hold the 'Option' key on your keyboard, then click File > New Local Notebook
- Evernote for Windows: Click File > New Local Notebook
Once you've created a Notebook, you can't change it's type. If you want to sync notes from a local notebook with your account, you will need to transfer them to a non-local notebook.
Note: Local notebooks are not available in Evernote Business accounts.
