How to rotate and resize images inside a note

Images and photos are a great way to enhance your work in Evernote. Sometimes, you'll want to make minor adjustments to the size and orientation of these images and photos, so they look the way you want them to inside a note.

How to rotate images

  • Mac and Windows

    1. Right-click the image you'd like to rotate and select Rotate Clockwise or Rotate Counterclockwise
    2. Repeat Step 1 until the image is oriented as desired
  • iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

    1. Open the note containing the image you'd like to rotate and tap the image to open it.
    2. Tap to preview the image, then tap the Share button (box with upward arrow).
    3. Tap Save Image to save the image from Evernote to your device.
    4. Open the Photos app, tap the image, tap Edit, tap the cropping tool button, then tap the box with the curved arrow above it to rotate your image until it's oriented as desired, then tap Done.
    5. Open Evernote, choose the note you'd like to add the rotated image to, then tap the camera button and select Add from Photos to insert the newly-rotated image inside your note.
  • Android

    1. Open the note containing the image you'd like to rotate and tap the image to open it.
    2. Tap the menu button (three vertical dots) in the top-right, then tap Save to Downloads.
    3. Open the 'Gallery' application on your Android device and select your image from the download folder.
    4. Tap Rotate Left or Rotate Right icon until your image is oriented as desired
    5. Open Evernote, choose the note you'd like to add the rotated image to, then tap the paperclip icon and select Attach > Photo to insert the newly-rotated image inside your note.

How to resize images

Resize images in Evernote for Mac

Available in Evernote for Mac, Windows, and Web.

  1. Tap an image inside a note until you see a blue border around it. If you see a blue square handle at the bottom-right corner of the border, the image can be resized.
  2. Select the square handle and drag towards or away from center of the image to resize it. Images can only be as large as their original size or the width of the note, whichever is larger.

Image size in Evernote for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

When you capture photographs directly into Evernote for iOS, they're stored at your pre-selected image size. To select your desired photo size, go to the 'Account' tab and select Settings > Camera > Image Size. You can select one of four sizes: Small, Medium, Large, and Actual Size.
