How to create shortcuts

Shortcuts are a quick way to access most frequently used content in your Evernote account. Create a shortcut to notes, notebooks, notebook stacks, tags, or saved searches. Each of these shortcuts are marked by different icons in the side navigation menu.

Access your shortcuts

To view your shortcuts, select Shortcuts from the navigation menu (Mac and Android), left panel (Windows), or tab bar (iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch). Shortcuts appear in the order they were created.

In Evernote for Mac or Windows, you can change the order in which the shortcuts appear by dragging and dropping them up and down in the list. In Evernote for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, tap Edit in the Shortcuts tab, drag and drop the three bars up and down in the list, then tap Done. Individual notebooks within a notebook stack shortcut cannot be reordered.

Create note, notebook, notebook stack, or tag shortcuts

To create a shortcut to any note, notebook, or tag, open the notes, notebooks, or tags lists, then do the following:

  • Mac

Right-click or Control + click on the note, notebook, notebook stack, or tag in the list, and select Add {Note, Stack, Tag} to Shortcuts from the pop-up menu. You can also drag items in and out of the Shortcuts list to add or remove them from the list.
