How to set up a passcode or fingerprint to unlock your mobile Evernote

Evernote lets you capture everything that's important to you in your personal and professional life. Passcode lock blocks access to the Evernote application on your phone or tablet by requiring a 4-digit PIN. Use this feature for added security when sharing your device with others.

Set up passcode lock

  • iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

    1. Open Evernote
    2. Select the Account tab
    3. Tap Settings > Passcode Lock > Turn Passcode On
    4. Set your passcode and confirm the passcode
  • Android

    1. Open Evernote
    2. Tap the three lines button, then tap your name
    3. Tap Set up passcode lock from the menu
    4. Set your passcode and confirm the passcode
  • Windows Phone

    1. Open Evernote
    2. Tap the three dots button, then tap settings
    3. Swipe to general, then turn on 'Pin lock' by swiping to the right
    4. Set your passcode and confirm the passcode

Use your fingerprint to unlock Evernote

Quickly unlock Evernote using your fingerprint on supported iOS and Android devices.

  • iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

    To enable Touch ID:

    1. Select the Account tab
    2. Tap Settings > Passcode Lock > Turn Passcode On
    3. Set up a numerical passcode and confirm the passcode
    4. Enable Unlock with Touch ID
  • Android

    If your device supports fingerprint, and you have passcode lock enabled in Evernote, "Unlock with fingerprint" will be enabled by default.

    Note: Supported devices are those with Android M and those that support the Android API for fingerprint scanning.
