Change the sort order of your notes

Evernote offers several options which you can sort your list of notes by. The sort order is an application-wide setting, so all notebooks, search results, and other note lists are all sorted the same way. You cannot set different sort orders for different groups of notes.

  • Mac

    1. Click Sort options icon (down arrow) at the top of the note list.
    2. Choose a sort setting under the 'Sort By' heading.

    If you'd like to sort by Reminder date instead, switch to the Reminders tab and then access the Sort options.

     

  • Windows

    1. Click Sort options icon (down arrow) at the top of the note list.
    2. Choose a sort setting under the 'Sort By' heading.

    If you'd like to sort by Reminder date instead, switch to the Reminders tab and then access the Sort options.

     

  • iPhone and iPad

    1. Tap the More actions button (three dots) at the top of the note list.
    2. Tap on Sort by and select the desired sort settings. By tapping on the green arrow pointing down, you can invert the sort order.

     

  • Android

    1. Tap the More actions button (three dots) at the top of the note list.
    2. Tap on Sort by and select the desired sort settings. By tapping on the green arrow pointing down, you can invert the sort order.

     

  • Web

    1. Click Sort options icon (down arrow) at the top of the note list.
    2. Choose a sort setting under the 'Sort By' heading.

    If you'd like to sort by Reminder date instead, switch to the Reminders tab and then access the Sort options.
