Evernote often places a payment authorization on your account for the amount of your purchase before the charge becomes finalized. During this time, it will show up as a pending payment. If your payment does not go through (if the expiration date or security code is invalid, for example), the authorization will automatically be removed by your financial institution after it expires. The expiry time for an authorization varies by financial institution.
In some markets, Evernote is required to charge a set amount as part of the authorization attempt, such as .10 Euros or 100 yen.
