How to share notes via email

Work Chat

There is more than one way to share notes via email:

  • Email from within Evernote
  • Copy and paste a public link (URL) into an email
  • Send notes to an email address using Work Chat

Email from within Evernote

To email a note from within Evernote, select the note from the note list, then do the following:

  • Mac

Open the note, then select Note > More Sharing > Email a Copy... from the menu bar.

  • Windows

Open the note, click the downward arrow on the Share button, then select Send by Email....

  • iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Open the note, tap the share button (box with upward arrow), then tap Mail.

  • Android

Open the note, tap the share button (three connected dots), then type the names or emails of the persons you wish to share with.

  • Web

Open the note, click the downward arrow on the Share button, then select Email.

Once people receive your email, they receive a snapshot of the note at the time you shared it. They won't see any content changes that you may make to that note later.

Copy and paste a public link (URL) into an email

If you want to reference an Evernote note from an application other than Evernote, such as in an email or social networking application, you can copy and paste a public link to your note. Anytime you share a public link to your notes, the recipient(s) will be able to view the most recent version of your note, and choose to save it directly to their Evernote account. Because this is a public link, anyone with that link can see the contents of your note until you decide to stop sharing the link.

To grab the public link to your note, select the note, then do the following:

  • Mac

Open the note, click the downward arrow on the Share button, then select Copy Public Link.

  • Windows

Open the note, click the downward arrow on the Share button, then select Copy Share URL.

  • iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Open the note, tap the share button (box with upward arrow), then tap Copy link.

  • Android

Open the note, tap the share button (three connected dots), tap Shareable link off, then select a share method.

  • Web

Open the note, click the downward arrow on the Share button, then select Link.

Once the public link is copied to your clipboard, you can paste it into the email or application of your choice.

Send notes to an email address using Work Chat

When you send a note using Work Chat to someone's email address:

  • You can share and chat about a note without leaving Evernote
  • You can grant recipients varying levels of view and edit access to the note
  • The link shared in Work Chat always gives people a view of the most updated version of the note
  • Business customers can save time by selecting from a list of colleagues who belong to the same Evernote Business account, rather than manually entering email addresses (Evernote Business)

To email notes using Work Chat:

  1. Select a note from the note list and click Share (desktop computers) or tap the Work Chat button, the speech bubble with an arrow (mobile).
  2. Set the permission level to 'Can edit and invite', 'Can edit', or 'Can view'.
  3. Enter at least one email address (or select at least one contact), type a message if you'd like to, then click or tap Send
