How to share notes via email

There is more than one way to share notes via email:

  • Email from within Evernote
  • Copy and paste a public link into an email

Email from within Evernote

To share a note via email, follow the steps for your operating system below.

  • Mac

    1. Right-click on the note you would like to share.
    2. Select Share Note.
    3. Click More Sharing button then select Email a copy…
    4. Enter at least one email address (or select at least one contact) and include an optional message.
    5. Click Send.
  • Windows

    1. Right-click on the note you would like to share.
    2. Select Share > Send a Copy.
    3. Enter at least one email address (or select at least one contact) and include an optional message.
    4. Click Send.
  • iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

    1. Open the ‘Notes’ tab and tap on the note you’d like to share.
    2. Tap Share Note button (silhouette with the plus sign).
    3. Tap More sharing options and select Email copy of note.
    4. Enter at least one email address (or select at least one contact).
    5. Tap Send.
  • Android

    1. Open the note you would like to share.
    2. Tap the Share Note button (three connected dots).
    3. Tap the menu button (three dots) then select Email copy of note.
    4. Enter at least one email address (or select at least one contact).
    5. Tap Send.
  • Web

    Note: Not available in the new Evernote Web

    Older version of Evernote Web:

    1. Open the note you would like to share.
    2. Click the downward arrow on the Share button.
    3. Select Email.
    4. Enter at least one email address (or select at least one contact) and include an optional message.
    5. Click Send.

 

Once people receive your email, they receive a snapshot of the note at the time you shared it. They won't see any content changes that you may make to that note later.

Copy and paste a public link (URL) into an email

If you want to reference an Evernote note from an application other than Evernote, such as in an email or social networking application, you can copy and paste a public link to your note. Anytime you share a public link to your notes, the recipient(s) will be able to view the most recent version of your note, and choose to save it directly to their Evernote account. Because this is a public link, anyone with that link can see the contents of your note until you decide to stop sharing the link.

To grab the public link to your note, follow the steps for your operating system below.

  • Mac

    1. Right-click on the note you would like to share.
    2. Select Copy Shareable Link.
  • Windows

    1. Right-click on the note you would like to share.
    2. Select Share > Copy Shareable Link.
  • iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

    1. Open the ‘Notes’ tab and tap on the note you would like to share.
    2. Tap Share Note button (silhouette with the plus sign).
    3. Tap Shareable link off then select a share method.
  • Android

    1. Open the note you would like to share.
    2. Tap the Share Note button (three connected dots).
    3. Tap Shareable link off then select a share method.
  • Web

    The new Evernote Web:

    1. Open the note you would like to share.
    2. Click the green Share button.
    3. Click the toggle button next to Shareable link to enable the link.
    4. Click Copy link.


    Older version of Evernote Web:

    1. Open the notebook you want to share.
    2. Click the downward arrow on the Share button.
    3. Select Link then click Copy.
    4. Click Done.

 

Once the public link is copied to your clipboard, you can paste it into the email or application of your choice.
