We are retiring Work Chat

Heads up! We’ll be retiring Work Chat from Evernote soon. Starting from 1st October 2023, we’ll start removing access to Work Chat for all our users. Please back up any important information you may have stored in your Work Chat conversations before October 2023. You can consider copy pasting the chats to an Evernote note or to some other place by that date. If instead you want us to send you a history of your work chats, you can open a support request with us.

What does this mean?

We are retiring Work Chat from Evernote. This implies that after 1st October 2023, you may lose access to all functionalities related to Work Chat on Evernote. This means you will not be able to send or receive any new messages on Work Chat. You will also not be able to access any of your past messages or information exchanged through Work Chat conversations after it is removed.

What do I need to do?

Please go through your Work Chat history and make sure you don’t have any important information in there that you would like to save. 

If you do have any important information exchanged in your Work Chat in the past, we encourage you to back it up in an Evernote note or another source so that you are able to keep accessing it in the future.

If Work Chat messaging is an integral part of your workflow, we encourage you to look at other tools that can help replace your Work Chat messaging flow.

Why is the Evernote team removing Work Chat?

We are committed to building a reliable and valuable product for our users. From time to time, we assess the usage of a feature against the complexity that it brings in and the risks that it poses to the reliability of the core functionality of the Evernote product. Sometimes, it becomes necessary to remove a part of the functionality of the app to improve the overall reliability of the product and to allow us to introduce new features at a faster pace and in a more reliable manner moving forward. It is a decision that protects the long-term interests and the faith that our users have put in us.

Removal of Work Chat from the Evernote product is unfortunately a difficult but necessary decision in this direction.
