This article contains a log of release notes for publicly-released versions of Evernote beginning with version 10.8. To view current version release notes, visit Evernote release notes.

  • November 2, 2022 - Version 10.48.4

    New

    • Evernote Professional and Teams customers can now add a spreadsheet to a note and see a preview of its contents in the editor. That way, you can see what's inside without having to download it first.
    • We're continuing to improve recurring tasks, thanks to your feedback! Now you can set a task to recur right from the first screen of the task editor. And on the "Custom" recurrence screen, you can say when you want the recurrence to start, as well as choose from more specific monthly recurrence options, such as "the 2nd Thursday."
    • We've made it easier for Personal, Professional, and Teams customers to share notes linked to calendar events with all meeting participants.
    • We've added new note settings to suit the way you work. Choose whether you want your cursor to start in the note body or the title, and whether or not you want checklist items crossed out when completed.
  • October 17, 2022 - Version 10.47.7

    New

    • Setting due dates for your tasks is now one click quicker, since we added "today" and "tomorrow" options in the task details window.
    • See a summary of the best features we've released over the last few months in our Q3 Roundup Blog.
  • October 3, 2022 - Version 10.46.7

    Fixed

    • Miscellaneous bug fixes
  • September 21, 2022 - Version 10.45.18

    New

    • Creating tasks just got easier! Type "()" inside a note, followed by some text, and the app will automatically turn it into a task for you.
  • August 31, 2022 - Version 10.44.8

    fixed

    • Miscellaneous bug fixes
  • August 18, 2022 - Version 10.43.7

    Fixed

    • Miscellaneous bug fixes
  • August 3, 2022 - Version 10.42.7

    New

    • The app will now auto-populate new note titles when you click into the title field. "Sounds cool," we hear you say, "but what does it mean?" It's like this: Let's say the first line of content in your note is something like "Team meeting, June 23rd." Simply click in the title field and the app will instantly make that your note's title, without any extra effort on your part. You can change it later if you want, but think of the time you'll save!
    • Tag your notes quicker! Drag a tag from the sidebar or the tags menu directly into a note to apply it to that note.
    • We've made a few changes so it's easier for you to adjust the app's settings. "Preferences" in the menu bar is now called "Settings," and clicking on it now opens the main Settings window, where you can tweak to your heart's content.
    • Teams customers can now filter by stack in the search bar or the filtered notes widget.
    • You'll now see a progress bar when executing several actions at once (like deleting notes or editing tags), and you'll be able to cancel midway if you change your mind.
    • We've added a new filter to the Tasks view to show you only your recurring tasks.
  • July 22, 2022 - Version 10.41.5

    Fixed

    • Miscellaneous bug fixes.
  • July 5, 2022 - Version 10.40.9

    New

    • One of your most requested features is here! Now when you add a due date to a task, you'll have the option to make it repeat. Choose from preset options like daily or weekly, or set your own custom recurrence.

    Fixed

    • Miscellaneous bug fixes.
  • June 13, 2022 - Version 10.39.6

    New

    • Need to link to one note from another? Drag it from the note list into the editor and Evernote will automatically create a link for you.
    • You can now drag-and-drop multiple notes into a note to create a list with links to each one.
    • We've made a bunch of improvements to help you navigate the app using only your keyboard. Now it's easier to see when you're editing a note, and there are new keyboard options to get you into and out of the editor and the formatting bar. No mouse required.
    • We've added a new keyboard shortcut to help speed up your workflow: From inside the editor, you can instantly jump to the formatting bar by typing Alt + Ctrl + F10 on Windows or Fn + Opt + F10 on Mac. It's the little things.
    • Tired of typing Ctrl + K or Cmd + K to add hyperlinks to your notes? Don't want to bother with the Insert button? We get it. But now all you need to do is copy a URL, highlight some text, and select Paste. We love how much time it saves, and we think you will too.

    Fixed

    • If the app seems a little zippier, that's not your imagination. We made some tweaks so it now starts up even faster.
  • May 26, 2022 - Version 10.38.1

    New

    • We tweaked some things under the hood to make connecting and disconnecting Google Calendar accounts even zippier.
    • You can now filter by stack when searching within Evernote or using the filtered notes widget. (It's not ready for Teams customers yet, but we're working on it!)

    Fixed

    • Sometimes, if you dragged and dropped an image or other attachment from Apple Notes or Outlook into Evernote, the image wouldn't come along for the ride. That was pretty embarrassing, but on the bright side, we fixed it.
  • May 10, 2022 - Version 10.37.3

    Fixed

    • Miscellaneous bug fixes
  • April 27, 2022 - Version 10.36.4

    Fixed

    • Miscellaneous bug fixes
    • April 20, 2022 - Version 10.35.3

      New

      • We're making it easier for you to adjust the app's settings by combining them into one big Settings menu. Click on the gear icon in the sidebar to start tweaking!
    • March 30, 2022 - Version 10.34.4

      Fixed

      • Miscellaneous bug fixes
    • March 18, 2022 - Version 10.33.5

      Fixed

      • Miscellaneous bug fixes
    • March 3, 2022 - Version 10.32.4

      New

      • The app would send you an email every time someone shared a note or notebook with you, which was good. But that email would just say you'd received a "chat," which was not so good. So we fixed it to give you the information you need up front.
    • February 16, 2022 - Version 10.31.6

      Fixed

      • Numerous bug fixes and enhancements
    • February 1, 2022 - Version 10.30.6

      Fixed

      • Numerous bug fixes
    • January 19, 2022 - Version 10.29.7

      New

      • When you have Evernote and Google Calendar connected, Evernote can now remind you when it’s time to take meeting notes, or open an existing note, so you never miss a detail.

      Fixed

      • Numerous bug fixes
    • January 4, 2022 - Version 10.28.3

      New

      • We heard you! Now see ONLY tasks assigned to you, or tasks you've created that aren't assigned to anyone else, by clicking My Tasks in your Tasks view. That'll make it easier to focus on what you have to get done.

      Fixed

      • When you create a note linked to a calendar event, it contains a blank task to get you started. But those placeholder tasks were also showing up in your Tasks view, which was a big mess. So we fixed it.
      • You can now click a link in a task to open a note in Evernote. That'll make it easier for you to pick up right where you left off.
    • December 9, 2021 - Version 10.27.5

      New

      • You can now see your tasks grouped by: Assigned by me, Assigned to me, Assigned to others, and Unassigned. That'll make it easier to stay on top of things.
    • December 2, 2021 - Version 10.26.5

      New

      • We increased the maximum length of a task title from 300 characters to 1000. That's *checks notes*... 700 more characters for you to make use of.
      • Your default notebook will now have its own unique icon, so it's easy to spot while you're scrolling through your list. It's the little things.
    • November 11, 2021 - Version 10.25.6

      New

      • You can now assign tasks to anyone with an email address—even if they're not an Evernote customer. They'll see them on a special web page where they can mark (and unmark them) as complete without having to create an account.
      • We're pretty proud of the background images we provided for Home (after all, we took those photos ourselves!). But you might prefer to see more widgets and not have a background image instead. Now the choice is yours when you click Customize.

      Fixed

      • If you joined a notebook, left it, then tried to rejoin the same notebook, the app would say it couldn’t find it. But now it should be smooth sailing.
    • October 26, 2021 - Version 10.24.3

      New

      • You can now reveal and edit an encrypted block of text without permanently decrypting it first. The text will be re-encrypted as soon as you navigate to a different note, so your sensitive data stays hidden.
      • Search just got smarter! If you're in a notebook or space and click into the search bar, the app will start your search in that notebook or space by default.

      Fixed

      • The app would occasionally prevent you from moving notes to another notebook, even if you had access to it. But now you can move things around however you like.
      • If you merged two or more notes with tasks in them, sometimes the tasks wouldn't appear in the new note. But now they'll all come along for the ride.
      • Even if you completed all the tasks in a note and deleted the note, it would still show up in your tasks list. Since you probably deleted it because you didn't want to see it anymore, we took care of that.
      • The app is now better at displaying notebooks in non-Latin languages (Japanese, for example). So you shouldn't see any more names duplicated in your notebook list.
    • October 12, 2021 - Version 10.23.7

      New

      • To help you find what you're looking for even quicker, you'll now see a list of suggested filters at the top of the note list after you perform a search or add a filter.
      • We've improved how the app handles hyperlinks in tasks, so you can tap on more links in more places, and do more with them. For example: URLs in task titles, and links in tasks within a note. There's a whole lot more, but you get the idea.
      • If you're in the Tasks view, you can now sort your tasks by their due date, so it's easier to see what you need to work on first.

      Fixed

      • We made some adjustments so typing inside a note is now even snappier. Because nothing should get in the way of a good idea.
      • Occasionally, Chinese or Japanese words would disappear from a note. Thankfully, that's a thing of the past now.
      • We tinkered with the note editor to iron out a few annoying bugs that were buzzing around.
      • We took careful aim and blasted a few calendar bugs into the cosmic void.
    • September 23, 2021 - Version 10.22.3

      New

      • We've trained the app to be better at recognizing links in your notes. Now it'll automatically convert web URLs, phone numbers, and email addresses to clickable links; and links can also open local files and default apps (we're looking at you, Zoom). You don't even have to include the "https://"!

      Fixed

      • Previously, you couldn't select the first task in your list if it was at the top of a note. But it should be smooth sailing now.
    • September 9, 2021 - Version 10.21.5

      New

      • Big news: You can now add codeblocks and dividers to your tables!
      • We're making Home even more useful for you. Notes, tasks, tags, and notebooks widgets now have an icon at the top-right so you can create a new entry with one click, right from the widget.
      • Adding filters to your note list or search results is a great way to narrow down your view, and now you can save those filters as a saved search with one click.

      Fixed

      • Your calendar week might start on Sunday or Monday, depending on where you live. Now the app will detect your location and adjust accordingly.
      • Let's face it: note conflicts are frustrating. We found a way to make them happen less often when you're editing on a single device, but you may still see them from time to time. All we can say is we're working on it and we appreciate your patience.
    • August 25, 2021 - Version 10.20.4

      New

      • New widget alert! Make your Home dashboard even more useful by adding the new Filtered Notes widget. See the content you really need, such as all notes with a task, all notes with a specific tag, and much more. All in one place. (Available with Evernote Personal, Professional and Teams plans.)

      Fixed

      • We tweaked some things under the hood so new note windows will now open even faster. Because nothing should stand between you and a great idea.
      • If you saved a copy of a note to Evernote, it sometimes took a while for any tasks in that note to appear as well. But you should be off to the races now.
    • August 16, 2021 - Version 10.19.2

      New

      • You can now merge notes in Evernote Web!
      • After you duplicate a note, the app will now focus on the new note instead of the original.
      • Duplicate notes now have "copy" at the end of the title, so sorting or deleting them is a snap.
    • July 27, 2021 - Version 10.18.3

      New

      • Tasks you create using the global create button (the green circle with the +) will now be added to the note you currently have open instead of the default task note. All the better to help you stay on top of things.

      Fixed

      • Now you can see a count of how many tasks you've completed out of the total number of tasks in a note. Because we can all use a little encouragement.
      • If you hovered over an item in a scrollable menu, the list would suddenly (and annoyingly) jump back to the top. Now things will stay put.
      • Occasionally, a task would mysteriously disappear from inside a note. That didn't mean it was complete, though, which was a bit misleading. But you should see them all now.
    • July 22, 2021 - Version 10.17.8

      Tasks in Evernote

Early access to Tasks has started rolling out and will be available to you over the coming weeks.

Tasks in Evernote help you stay on top of it all by making your notes more actionable and giving your to-dos the context you need.

Notes and tasks make each other more useful:

      • Add tasks directly to your notes to keep the things you need to do with the information you need to get them done.
      • Streamline your workflow—when notes and tasks live together, there’s no need to keep switching between your notes and a dedicated task manager.
      • Avoid information overload by capturing the details, actions, and decisions you need in one convenient place.

      Take control of your day:

      • See the right task, at the right time. Unlike standard checklists, you can set due dates and reminders on each of your tasks.
      • Get alerts for tasks even when you’re not in Evernote, so important action items never fall through the cracks.
      • Quickly focus on what matters most by flagging important tasks.

      Master your priorities:

      • Get a summarized view of everything you need to do, or immerse yourself in the context of what you need to do now.
      • Work your way—sort tasks by note, due date, or flagged status and use filters to focus on what you need in the moment.
      • Changes to your tasks update instantly across every view and on all your devices.

Get early access to Tasks and start each day confident that you have a clear path to tackling everything on your plate.
