Share notes with anyone

The note share screen in Android gives you multiple sharing options:

  • Share within Evernote: Open a note, tap the share button (three connected dots), then type the name or email of the person you wish to share with. If the recipient has an Evernote account, the note will appear in their account. If the recipient doesn’t have an Evernote account, they’ll receive an email letting them know you’ve shared the note.
  • Shareable link: Open a note, tap the share button (three connected dots), then tap Share or the white chain link button. You can copy the link to your clipboard or share it using your favorite messaging app.

To stop sharing a note at any time, do one of the following:

  • Open the note, tap the share button (three connected dots), then tap the green chain link button.
  • Open the note, tap the share button (three connected dots), tap the options button (three dots), then tap Edit link settings.
  • Open the note, tap the share button (three connected dots), tap View next to who can access the note, then adjust the permissions.

 

Share notebooks

To share a notebook with another Evernote user:

  1. Tap Notebooks in the navigation menu
  2. Press and hold the notebook name or tap the options button (three dots) next to the notebook name
  3. Tap Share

Type the name or email of the person you wish to share with. If the recipient has an Evernote account, they’ll be prompted to join the notebook from their account. If the recipient doesn’t have an Evernote account, they’ll receive an email letting them know you’ve shared the notebook.

To view and change sharing permissions for a notebook, open the notebook and tap the share button (three connected dots), or:

  1. Tap Notebooks in the navigation menu
  2. Press and hold the notebook name or tap the options button (three dots) next to the notebook name
  3. Tap Modify sharing

 

View notes and notebooks that have been shared with you

The Shared section in Evernote for Android

Notes and notebooks that are shared with you are listed in the Shared section of the navigation menu. In the Shared section, you’ll see who’s shared with you and when they shared it. This is also where you can join notebooks that have been shared with you.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I sort the Shared section?

Tap the options button (three dots), then tap Sort... to sort by date, title, or person. Or, you can quickly sort by date by tapping Date shared at the top of the list.

 

How do I filter the Shared section?

You can use filters to narrow your search results by person, title, or item type.

  • Person: Type the name of the person who shared with you in the search bar. The last three people who shared with you are listed. You can also select a person from a full list by tapping View All.
  • Title: Type a keyword in the search bar. The search will return results that match note and notebook titles only.
  • Type: Tap either Notes or Notebooks.

 

How is this different than Work Chat?

Work Chat hasn’t changed. We’ve pulled all your shared notes and notebooks into the Shared section so it’s easier for you to find them. In addition, the new share screen adds the ability for you to share notes as a link using other apps.

 

Is there a separate Shared section for personal notes and for business notes?

No. The Shared section includes all the notes and notebooks that have been shared with you, regardless of whether they are personal or business.
