Every day, our team is working on making the Evernote experience smoother, faster, and more reliable. We've created this tracker to aggregate all the improvements in one place!
👉 How to use this tracker
- Before filing a new support ticket. Check to see if the issue you're experiencing has recently been solved. If yes, simply updating your app, re-launching your browser, or logging out and back into your account can improve your Evernote experience.
-
After filing a support ticket. The time it takes to solve a technical issue varies a lot depending on several factors, but we always do our best to get you a resolution as quickly as possible. However, we recognize that it can be frustrating to wait for a resolution without additional information. With this tracker, we hope to give you a bit of additional insight into our work on the most pressing issues at Evernote.
❓Frequently asked questions
-
I don't see my issue on the list—does that mean that the team isn't working on it?
Not at all. Everyday we receive dozens of reports on different bugs and issues. Our team is constantly prioritizing fixes based on the severity of the issue and the number of people affected. So, even if you don't see your issue on this list, it doesn't mean we're not keeping an eye on it.
-
Do these issues affect everyone?
Most of the time, no. In a few, very rare cases, there are issues that affect all our customers—these generally become our highest priority. However, it's the nature of software like the one that powers Evernote that one person can experience a bug, while another has no problems at all while performing the same action! This is why it usually requires a bit of time to understand the bugs which are being reported: the team first needs to be able to reproduce it on our own test accounts before we can fix it. So, don't be alarmed if you see a bug listed below which you didn't experience!
-
How up-to-date is this tracker?
This tracker is a live representation of what the team is working on! We're updating this tracker as soon as we solve an issue.

👋 Meet the team
At Evernote, we strive to promptly address and resolve any bugs or technical issues our users encounter, and we want to provide transparency regarding how we handle bug reports and prioritize fixes.
When you report a bug through the contact form dedicated to Technical Issues, it initiates a process within our development team to investigate and address the issue. We want to assure you that your report is received, acknowledged, and prioritized internally. However, it's important to understand that the resolution timeline for each bug can vary significantly based on several factors, including its severity, complexity, and reproducibility.
It's important to note that while we make every effort to resolve issues as quickly as possible, we are unable to provide specific timelines for bug fixes due to the nature of the development process.
To stay informed about the progress of bug fixes, we encourage you to refer to our Bugfix Tracker and the release notes accompanying each new version of Evernote. These release notes highlight the changes and improvements included in the latest update, including any bug fixes that have been implemented.
As much as we'd like to provide a custom response to each and every ticket, we believe our time is better invested in investigating and resolving reported issues. For this reason, we'll be following up only if our development team needs additional details to support the investigation. Otherwise, it means that we have all the necessary details at hand to dig into the reported bug.
In the event that you do need to reach out for further assistance, we've outlined some guidelines to help streamline the process:
- Most of the times, a few generic troubleshooting steps prove to be successful in solving the issues. We keep this page up-to-date as we strive to identify steps that can be applied to a wide range of bugs. This is why we strongly suggest you carry them out before submitting a ticket.
- To ensure efficient handling of your report, please submit one bug per ticket. This allows us to categorize and prioritize issues more effectively.
- When submitting a bug report, please choose the category that best describes the issue you're experiencing. This helps us route your report to the appropriate team for investigation.
- If your inquiry pertains to account management or billing-related matters, please use the dedicated sections on our contact form.
- If you have questions about using Evernote effectively or need assistance with best practices, we encourage you to explore our Help and Learning articles or engage with our community in the Discussion Forums.

If you can't access your account because you're blocked by two-step verification, here are the most frequent issues and the related troubleshooting steps. You can find more information about two-step verification here.
If you get a message that your codes are invalid
- Enter the code immediately after you see it on your phone. For your protection, verification codes are only valid for one minute. If you need a new code, click 'I need help getting a verification code' and you'll see other options.
- Make sure you enter the verification code without any spaces or hyphens.
- Ensure that the time is set accurately on your mobile device. Since authentication codes are time-sensitive, the time on your mobile device must be accurate for your authentication codes to be accepted by the Evernote service. We recommend you set your phone to update the time automatically.
If you can't generate new codes
- If you still have access to your account on Evernote Web, please go to your Account Settings > Security Summary and reset two-step verification from there.
- If you didn't use Google Authenticator but a different authenticator app, you should be able to log in by entering the codes generated by the authenticator app you chose upon setting up two-step verification.
- If you have Google or Apple Sign-in connected to your account, try signing in using those methods.
- If you still have access to the device used to set up the 2FA, you should manage to generate a code from there. Then, go to your Account Settings > Security Summary and reset two-step verification to link it to the new device.
- If you have the back-up codes issued when setting up the 2FA, you can click on Need help getting a verification code? and click Use a back-up code.
- The email address tied to your Evernote account
- Billing information. Your payment receipts, and if you paid via a Credit Card, please provide its last 4 digits and expiration date
- Any City/State/Province(s) from which you accessed this account in the last 30 days
- Any device from which you accessed this account in the last 30 days
- IP addresses in IPv4 and IPv6 formats from which you accessed this account in the last 30 days
- If you previously used SMS as an authentication method, the phone number used to set it up

Note: We have recently updated our authentication process to enhance security. While the option to stay logged in for 30 days is no longer available, Web sessions should last 30 days by default. Users should not be logged out immediately upon logging in, nor should they be logged out frequently.
If you're being logged out of Evernote Web as soon as you log in, or you're being logged out frequently throughout the day, please find a workaround below:
- Make sure you're logging in through this page.
- Clean your browser’s cache and cookies for all time, then log in again
- Ensure that your browser is set to allow cookies. If cookies are blocked, it may prevent you from staying logged in.
- Try disabling any extensions, especially ad blockers.
- Make sure your browser is up to date. If it's not, follow these steps to update it.
- Log in to Evernote using your browser's incognito mode. This can help determine if the issue is related to your browser settings or extensions.
- If none of this helps, try using a different browser.
If the issue persists, kindly download the appropriate app for your device instead.
If you'd like to provide additional information to our developers to help fix this issue, please contact us, providing the following information:
- A screenshot or screen recording displaying the issue.
- The device you're using and its OS version.
- The browser you're using and its version.
- The URLs displayed during the process. The URL may cycle through different links, you can copy/paste them into the email you send us.
- Activity logs
If your notes seem to have disappeared, or you don't recognize the content or activity in your Evernote account after logging in, it’s likely you’ve accidentally signed into a different Evernote account than your primary one.
This is one of the most common reasons users report missing notes or an empty account. Please follow the steps below carefully to identify the correct email address associated with your primary Evernote account.
Check your Evernote account access history
To confirm whether the account you logged into is your primary account, you can verify this by checking your access history in your account settings. If you find very few logins, despite using Evernote daily, you have logged into the wrong account.
How to find your account settings and check your access history, read this article:

How to find your primary Evernote account where all your content is stored:
1. Try using your Evernote username to log in.
2. Consider all other email addresses you have and try logging in on the sign-in page using each of them.
3. If you have an Apple device, it's possible that you might have created an account on Evernote by logging in with Apple and enabling the Hide My Email. You can find your email by tapping on Settings (from mobile) or System Preferences (from PC) > iCloud > Hide My Email and selecting Evernote. Copy that email address and try to use it as your Evernote login. The email should look like this: ---@privaterelay.appleid.com
4. For Gmail or Hotmail users, make sure you're using the exact email address you used to register your Evernote account. Try both @gmail.com and @googlemail.com, and consider switching between Gmail and Hotmail if you're unsure which one you used.
If one of the emails was recognized but you received a message stating that the password is incorrect, try submitting as many passwords as you remember or request a password reset link.
If you've attempted to log in using each of the emails you have, and all attempts have redirected you to a message stating that there is no such account, contact us and provide the following information:
- All email addresses you have and the outcome of trying to access your Evernote account linked to these emails.
- Please provide us with all usernames you think may be connected to your account.
- If you have or had a paid subscription in the past, also provide the following information:
- The receipt or invoice detailing your Evernote subscription purchase.
- The payment method you used (e.g., credit card, PayPal, Apple, Google Play). If it's a credit card, send us the amount, payment date, first 6 digits, and the full name on the card.
Please note that it is mandatory to include all the above details in your first message to the Support team.
I reset my password and don't see any notes in my account
There are two things you can check if you can't see your notes after a password reset or reinstallation:
1. Confirm you are using the correct Evernote account
The most common scenario where you may not see your notes after a password reset or reinstallation is you are signed in to the wrong account. Many users inadvertently create multiple accounts with different email addresses or usernames. Please follow these steps to confirm you're using the correct account:
- Confirm that there are no unsynced notes (notes marked with a sync error in the upper right corner). If there are any, make sure you're connected to the internet and sync your account.
- Open the account settings in your current app to verify the email address you're signed into. If it is not the account you expected, sign out of this account and try signing back in with another email address or username. You may want to try multiple times if you have multiple email addresses. If it is the account you expected and you still do not see your notes, contact us.
Tips:
- If you receive emails from Evernote to multiple of your email addresses, that means you probably have multiple Evernote accounts. Check the "To:" field in emails from Evernote.
- If you have ever emailed something to your Evernote account, check your 'Sent Mail' folder to see if you can determine the username of your account. The username is the first part of your Evernote email address. For example: [username].abc123@m.evernote.com.
2. Wait for Evernote to re-sync your account
Another common scenario where you may not see your notes after a password reset or reinstallation is that the app has yet to re-sync your account. After you successfully log in with your new account information, Evernote re-syncs your data from our server. This is a security precaution to ensure that your data will only be accessible by you. Wait while the notes download to your device, which may take some time depending on the number and size of your notes.
Evernote uses an email address, rather than a username, to uniquely identify you as an account holder. When you first register in Evernote, you’re asked to provide an email address. This email is what you will use to log in to your Evernote account and can be changed in your account settings.
If you no longer have access to the account login email address, we recommend that you change your account login email address. Keep in mind that you will need your Evernote password to make this change.
If you no longer have access to the account login email address and you don’t remember your Evernote password, you should first regain access to the email address by following these steps:
- Visit the account recovery page for your email provider. Here are some common ones:
- Gmail: https://accounts.google.com/signin/recovery
- Yahoo: https://login.yahoo.com/forgot
- Outlook/Hotmail: https://account.live.com/password/reset
- AOL: https://login.aol.com/forgot
2. Enter the email address you're trying to recover.
3. Follow the prompts to verify your identity. If you encounter any difficulties during the email recovery process, please find assistance through the support section of your email provider's website.
Once you manage to regain access to your email address, you will be able to retrieve your Evernote account's password by clicking on "Forgot Password?" and following the steps to reset it.
For security reasons, Evernote is unable to give you access to the account if you cannot access your account login email address.
